Well, what’s been happening is that I went on an unofficial holiday break! But I was still busy baking and making! So, today’s post is to just share project and cake pictures since my last post. Then you can look forward to seeing new projects and cakes, starting with a “Gender Reveal” cake and contest! But first, here’s the rundown!

I don’t think I’ve shared them on the blog yet, but these were the super cute cupcakes I made for our Thanksgiving dinner with Rey’s Grandma and family. I especially love the chocolate turkeys:

Celebrating “Twilight” November 16, 2012

Yep…..I’m a fan of Twilight.

Not only did I enjoy the books, but I’ve enjoyed the movies, too. And as excited as I am that the final film has been released today, it’s also kind of a downer knowing there won’t be any more to wait for with anticipation. However, I’ll still enjoy it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ok, so I’m a fan of Twilight. Don’t judge me. At least I’m not a “crazy” fan of Twilight like some people I know…you know who you are….I won’t call you out on my blog…LOL ๐Ÿ™‚ However, I may be considered a Twilight nerd after this post…because, not only do I enjoy the books and movies, but I also enjoy some of the clothing they wear in the movies…particularly the handmade items.

Like Alice’s fingerless gloves in New Moon:

Yeah, totally gonna rock a pair of these soon…

Bella’s gloves…these are knit, but I still like them:

One of Bella’s hats (again, knit, but I could do this in crochet!):

So, in honor of the last movie coming out today, I made some Twilight inspired pieces.

Who among my Twi-hards remembers this:

First Twilight movie, at La Push. Cool hat, huh? I thought so. So, I made one…

Pretty darn close, yeah?

(Eek…I dislike pictures of me! But somebody had to model it…)

And just because it was fun…I made a bracelet. Notice the apple, wolf, and crystal heart…. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy Twilight Movie Premiere Day my Twilight friends!!!!

Michigan vs. Michigan State October 18, 2012

Filed under: Crochet — Kristin Barrios @ 1:03 PM

A wonderful lady I’ve had the privilege to know for a long time (I used to babysit her kids when I was younger (!) and now am lucky to call her a friend), commissioned me to make her grandchild a hat. And because her parents are Michigan fans, much to the dismay of Grandma, she got a cute blue and maize hat. Sorry, Charlotte, but…..Go Blue! lol

Isn’t that cute??

When it was time to deliver this hat, Grandma decided that if this one turned out so cute, then I must be able to make an even cuter Michigan State hat for her to put on her grand-daughter when she was with her. And so the rivalry even extends to baby hats, lol! And of course, I obliged…

So this season, when Michigan faces off against Michigan State, I wonder who she’ll be supporting??? However, either way, she’ll look cute as a button!

I’m always taking orders….call, text, email, comment, facebook me….I would love to make something for you or for one of your loved ones!

Summer Catch-Up September 12, 2012

Time is a flyin’! I can not believe that we are almost half way thru September already! It is true what they say, time goes by so quickly…seems to go by even faster now that I’m older :o(ย  So quickly in fact that I have forgotten to post some projects from the Summer! So here goes…

Where I work we had a team for Relay for Life this year. And through out the year, we’ve been asked to help raise money for the Relay. One of those fundraisers was a silent auction. I whipped up this really neat Cancer Ribbon Scarf. I made it a lilac color so that it incompasses all forms of cancer.

I also made the following two cakes for some very special reasons. The first one is a cake I made for an Aunt and Uncle on Rey’s side that have a Dentistry in Adrian. They moved back up here several years ago from Texas, and opened a practice here. This cake was requested by their employees to celebrate the business’ success.

And for that same Aunt, I made a surprise party birthday cake a few weeks later! She was so surprised! Way to go Tio Joe and family in making it a successful surprise. And I think the cake turned out really nice, but I’m biased, lol…and she likes the tropical, beachy kinds of things ;o)

I love these kinds of cakes….it lets me be an artist with frosting, and “paint” on the cake.

I have a couple other really fun projects from this summer, and I will post them soon here and on Facebook! So check it out!

Baby Booties August 15, 2012

Filed under: Crochet — Kristin Barrios @ 4:00 PM

Recently a family member had a baby shower and I gifted to her some handmade stuff! She’s expecting a girl, so she got a pink shell stitch hat with matching pink booties, and a teddy bear ear hat….plus some safety stuff of course…ya know, outlet plugs, nail clips, the booger sucker thingie…lol….and much more.

Anyway…she got hats like these ones:

And then these super duper cute booties, which I haven’t posted before! So cute….

Yeah…those are cute! I need to figure out how to size them up for me! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pictures will be up soon on Facebook…don’t forget to hit like when you visit…www.facebook.com/KBCakesCreations

Happy Wednesday friends!

Cute hat alert… July 20, 2012

Filed under: Crochet — Kristin Barrios @ 1:37 PM

These cute hats were made recently for an old classmate/basketball teammate/friend’s new baby girl…and she is adorable. And now she has two REALLY cute hats that Mom commissioned me to make ๐Ÿ™‚ Hopefully when the weather is more appropriate for the hats, Mom will send me some pictures to share….hint, hint, Laura….lol..

But here are the hats at least. A giraffe, and a double pom pom hat.

Funny side story about this hat….Laura showed me a picture of a hat she liked that was like this, and asked if I could do it (the same with the giraffe hat…). Being of a yarn hording type of person (if you crochet or knit, you totally get that…), I thought maybe I had something in my stash to make this hat with. When I sent her a picture of what I thought might work, she asked if she could go pick out the yarn for the hat, as she had seen some she really liked. Of course, that was absolutely fine. When I went to pick it up, I had my doubts when I saw the colors, lol…Purple with flecks of colors in it, and a pinkish/peach/cream mix. And she said put them together. lol….The customer is always right! It came together so cute! And the colors ended up working together just fine! And it’s super duper cute on the little one. Way to go, Mom!

This hat is so cute…. ๐Ÿ™‚ I think more animal hats should be made!!
